Another Fandango’s Provocative Question time! I look forward to these questions and the prompts to write it provides. This week’s question is:
How many hours, on average, do you spend per day (or per week) on blogging-related activities? And, what do you think you might do with your time if you didn’t spend it on those blogging-related activities?
To actually count it in hours, I would have to answer this on a weekly basis. The three weekly blogging prompts I regularly follow would total about 2 hours per week. There are weeks when I feel the need to vent in a blog to clear my head, but I don’t do that regularly. I follow blog prompts to keep me writing, however, the vent days are only to empty my head of noise. When I do have those times, the time it takes to write my long, rambling, venting blog is unbelievably short and would maybe add 1/2 hour to my week of blogging. The words spill out of my head and into my fingers as fast as I can type.
As for what I would do if I didn’t spend time blogging, well, if I were still at the computer, after reading the posts of many that I follow, I would probably dive back into my genealogy research. That “rabbit hole” however keeps me tied to the computer until my eyes cross.
I would like to blog more, but without the prompts, I really don’t have anything useful to blog about. I have tried blogging about cooking as I love to do that, but I am terrible at taking photos and keeping people engaged with my writing. I have long wanted to write a fantasy fiction story, but I really think my ideas are only interesting to me.
So to sum up my answer, I would say I blog consistently about 2 hours per week. Without writing a blog, I would say I would spend my time reading other blogs or diving deep into genealogy research.
