For this week’s Song Lyric Sunday, I am using one of my (if not THE) most favorite songs, Beautiful Disaster, by Lost Autumn. I was sure I had to have used this song before. I can’t find that I did and I am just surprised.
Not much is found for the band Lost Autumn. The band was formed in 2009 in South Dakota, and falls under the genre of Alternative Metal. The members are Shane Ferguson and Andrew McGlashan, on guitar; Kevin Bradt on bass guitar; Kaleb Britton, on drums; and Steve Glasford for the group’s lead vocals. The band started to gain fame when it won a competition of unsigned bands to write a song for a movie. Lost Autumn beat out 500 unsigned bands and their song Oblivion was chosen for the movie Death Warrior. (Never saw it.)
Being the type of person that lyrics speak to, this song moves me in so many ways. To me, from the subject’s standpoint, how down must you be to not see the blessings of life before you…this is (to me) an excellent reminder. And, from the singer’s standpoint…how awful to not be able to convince someone of their worthiness, no matter how hard you try. I did read a short article where the band performed this song in honor of another individual (local to the venue). I suppose this song could be about anyone who may have taken their own life or feels that is the only option. I wish there was a way to tell those people struggling with suicidal thoughts that they DO mean something to someone.
Anyway, there are only two videos of the song that I found and the first is only the song. I did find a second with Steve Glasford singing it “unplugged” and put that at the end in case anyone is interested.
You got my head spinning
You got my heart beating
But you can’t believe what you’re seeing
Cause you’re too broken girl
To see all the good in this world
She said love isn’t in the cards for me
I said but it’s knocking
On your front door baby
And for one night I held her
My hands running through her hair
I broke through her resilient barriers
She was my beautiful disaster
I felt the spark that night
I could feel the passion inside
I could put to rest her fear
She was my beautiful disaster
I’ll always cherish
The memories we made
It’s too bad you weren’t strong enough
To see the future we had
And for one night i held her
My hands running through her hair
I broke through her resilient barriers
She was my beautiful disaster
I felt the spark that night
I could feel the passion inside
I could put to rest her fear
She was my beautiful disaster
Beautiful disaster
Beautiful disaster
My beautiful disaster
A beautiful disaster describes someone that you love and think is so perfect, but they are the wrong person for you. Nice music SadiRose,
