Sunday Ramblings – Books

This week, E.M. has us rambling about books. Here are her questions:

  1. Do you prefer digital, paperback, or hard bound books? Hardbound books.

2. Do you have a library full of books or just your favorite tales? I have a library full of books. Well, by “library”, I mean my one bookcase.

3. Harry Potter, Narnia, or Twilight? (You can choose all three or pick and choose.) Twilight.

4. Do you like when books are turned into movies? Why or why not? Actually, I go the other way around. I usually watch a movie and find it is based on a book. If I enjoyed the movie, I will listen to the books. It is very hard to watch a movie after reading the books as they rarely come close to the actual story.

5. What is a book that you have read over and over again? Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

One thing I’d like to add. I am unable to concentrate on reading books anymore. Reading anything really. I choose to listen to books. If I do “read” in the traditional sense, it is almost always some educational material with blurbs of information. That is about all the screeching in my head will allow before I can’t focus anymore.

The majority of the books in my library are religious books with one shelf devoted to natural healing/nutritional/health type books, with a few language books mixed in (Spanish, Icelandic, Urdu and Lakota). I have very few novels in my collection and those that do appear on the bottom shelf belonged to the kids and I never moved them. I used to collect cookbooks, but nowadays, I would say that is the ONE former hardbound book form that I opt to use digitally now.

Blogging gets the noise in my head least for a little while. I use blogging to weed through all that noise and find the humor in each situation, even if it takes some time to find it. I am not selling anything, just sharing experiences as a mother, Amma, wife, paralegal, volunteer, Muslimah, sister, daughter, mother-in-law, woman.

  1. That’s so interesting that you’ve read Wuthering Heights over and ovther again. I read it once, in a simplified version, in eighth grade English (English is my second lt anguage, therefore the simplified version) and honestly didn’t like it. I might want to reread it though, as I do remember being intrigued by the descriptions of nature.

  2. I spend a good amount of time on Audible myself. I am just too undisciplined to sit in bed and read a book these days. So I am with you there, and it was cool to see all the different languages that you know 🙂 I am lucky to speak English most days *giggles* Thanks for rambling about books with me, Sadi! I loved the answers and the ramble!
